SCBF will do what we can to support the community at this difficult time. However, we need to balance calls for emergency funding with our need to hold back a proportion of reserves to allow us to help with the long-term recovery of Strathnairn from the current crisis and provide on-going support for many years to come.

SCBF already fund a number or organisations providing support to the most vulnerable in our community through our ‘general grants’. We have made it clear to these organisations that they may request additional funds from us to help deal with the current emergency. Newly formed organisations are welcome to apply for a general grant to support their work, once they have a clear picture of needs, likely costs of activities, and have plans in place to keep volunteers and beneficiaries safe. Applications should be made on the ‘general grant’ application form, preferably via the website.

SCBF are able to support individuals experiencing financial crisis through our ‘respite or relief of hardship grant’. The board expect any applicants to have made full use of support available through the government, the welfare system and flexibility offered by banks and building societies before approaching us for funds. The Highland Council have set up a helpline to give guidance on what’s available – 0300 303 1362. Applications should be made through the website. Applicants will be contacted by telephone to discuss the details of their application.

The board have reviewed our processes to ensure our business continuity and speed up decision making and payment in cases of urgency. You can help us by submitting applications by email or online rather than by post. Post, sent to the freepost address, will still reach us, but could be subject to delay.
